What the SATA jet X does on clearcoat: notes from a bodyshop

Whether a new spray gun really makes a difference is settled in the workshop, not in the catalogue. SATA's premium gun, the jet X, was tried on real jobs at the Bodywork Elflein shop in Karlsruhe. Workshop manager Martin Heberling ran the trial together with SATA application engineer Oleksandr Fedorchuk.
The difference showed up mostly in the clearcoat
What Heberling emphasises is the clearcoat. In his own words, the jet X is a real step forward for clear: the surface comes out far more uniform and simply looks better.
- Less mottling. The blotchy look that causes the most trouble on metallic and pearl work was noticeably reduced.
- Uniform surface. Material distribution within the fan and the fineness of atomisation are what decide this.
- Controlled application. No runs or sagging were observed.
After the trial the shop put six jet X DIGITAL systems into service. The I-series nozzles were the preferred choice.
