Mirka, one of the brands we distribute, has won a 2026 Red Dot Award in the product design category with its corded polisher, the POLAROS RP 600.
What earned the award: a gearless body
What sets the POLAROS RP 600 apart from other machines in its class is that it transfers power without a gearbox. Simon Bäck, Senior Development Engineer at Mirka, credits the machine's success to exactly this: the gearless design delivers power more efficiently and the machine runs noticeably quieter.
What it means on the shop floor
- Low profile. No protruding side handles or curved grips, so the operator can work closer to the surface being polished. It also improves balance and reduces vibration.
- Ramp up and down. Speed control and pressure monitoring prevent compound spatter and surface damage. These features are patent pending.
- myMirka app. The machine can be managed from a phone.
- Modular build. Easier servicing and a longer working life.
The machine is made in Finland and its parts are sourced locally too — a detail that eases the spare parts and servicing side.
